My Story

I’m taking on the Tokyo Marathon in 2026 for Tenovus Cancer Care, in memory of Claire O’Shea.

As Chief Executive of Tenovus Cancer Care, it was a great honour to work alongside Claire.

After receiving her own incurable gynaecological cancer diagnosis following a tragically poor experience, Claire made it her mission to raise awareness and make sure no other woman in Wales would have to go through the same.

Her strength, warmth and determination inspired hundreds of women with similar experiences to speak out, sparking national conversations and driving change at the highest levels in Welsh Government.

Claire’s death at the age of 42 is a heartbreaking reminder of how much more work there is to do and why her legacy must continue.

I’m dedicating this marathon to Claire’s Campaign, and to continuing the work we began. Funds raised will help ensure:

  • More women feel empowered to come forward and share their stories
  • Political promises are kept
  • The Welsh Government is held to account
  • Claire’s platform lives on

Though Claire is no longer with us, her voice will still be heard. Her impact lives on in policy, in the women she empowered, and in the continued campaign for better care for women in Wales.

Every donation helps support this important cause.

Diolch yn fawr,

Judi
